Recital Frequently Asked Questions
–PICTURE DAY–
Does my student have pictures taken?
Yes. Every class performing in the recital will have recital pictures taken. Our recital pictures are scheduled for April 10th-12th. We will publish a detailed schedule that outlines the time frame your student’s class pictures will be taken in March.
How do I order recital pictures?
Order forms provided by Jenna Housman Photography will be available in the gym on picture day.
–REHEARSALS–
How long should I expect rehearsal to take?
To ensure ultimate preparedness, each class will be allowed to run through their dance twice.
Does my student come dressed in their costume for rehearsal?
Because rehearsal is preparation for recital, all students are expected to wear their recital costumes with makeup & hair done. This is to ensure students are well prepared for recital day.
Does my student have to stay for the entire rehearsal?
After your student has rehearsed their dance(s) on stage, parents can pick up their students in the auditorium lobby. On recital day, all students must remain backstage until the end of the recital.
–RECITAL DAY–
Where & when is Recital?
Recital is Saturday, May 16th at the Carthage Auditorium: 714 S Main St. Carthage.
How early do I arrive?
We ask students to arrive 30 minutes before their scheduled performance.
Does my student come dressed in their costume?
To encourage efficiency, we ask all students to come dressed in their costume with their makeup & hair done. If they are in multiple dances, they will take their additional costumes backstage.
Do I need tickets?
Tickets are required for each attendee. We want to assure you that your child’s performance is a highlight of our event. The ticket fees help cover the costs associated with renting the auditorium, technical equipment, staff, & other necessary expenses to ensure a successful & enjoyable recital for all attendees. Ticket prices range from $10-$23.
How long will the show last?
Recital day is divided into 5-7 shows. You should prepare for 1 to 2 hours in length for your student’s recital performance.
Am I allowed backstage?
To allow each show to run as efficiently as possible, we only allow Ovation staff & parent volunteers who have previously signed up backstage. A volunteer sign-up will be available closer to recital day.
How does my student change costumes if they’re in multiple dances?
If a student is in multiple dances, they will be sent backstage with each of their costumes, & a parent volunteer will assist them if necessary.
Can my student come into the auditorium after they’re done performing?
To discourage disruption, students will remain backstage until their recital is complete. Our parent volunteers prepare snacks & activities so the students are entertained. We will also have a live-stream of the performance for the students to watch if they choose. At the end of the recital, students will take the stage one final time, so we can announce their participation.
How do I pick up my child at the end of recital?
After every student’s name is announced, students will be dismissed, & one parent will be asked to walk to the stage & pick up their child from the stage.
